Bio

Charlie is a 2nd-year M.S. student in the V&E program. He took a roundabout route to the wine world, growing up in Tennessee and attending Middlebury College in Vermont, graduating with a degree in neuroscience. But while working in a neuroscience lab in Seattle, he fell in love with wine and winemaking, and decided to switch careers. He worked harvests in Oregon's Willamette Valley, the Rutherglen region of Australia, and the Russian River Valley before starting his formal education at Davis. When he's not working on his Master's thesis in the Waterhouse lab or extolling the virtues of Riesling to anyone who will listen, he can be found playing drums, cooking, or hiking.
