Howdy folks! My name is Mackenzie Davis and I am a 4th year VitIculture and Enology undergraduate. I am from San Diego where I was raised growing avocados and spending lots of time playing in the dirt. I followed that passion for agriculture and soil to Davis! While at UC Davis, I spent a summer studying abroad in France learning the art of winemaking and eating more than humanly possible. I spent two harvest seasons working at Ponte Winery in Temecula, California. This previous year I worked in the UC Davis Research Winery as an Intern. It was inspiring to see how UC Davis plays such an influential role for innovation within the wine industry. This summer, I am stoked to spend the harvest season working at Three Sticks in Sonoma and living in a rad camper trailer! Sticky and smiling, I am loving this quality time with the grapes before returning to school in fall. This year I am really looking forward to my welding class and getting together with my peers for some educational fun tastings!! I hope to one day be a winemaker, but in the meantime, I can make a mean homebrewed mead! As president this year, I am excited to tackle the challenge of following COVID guidelines in a way for DEVO to safely socialize and continue to be a platform for VEN students to grow in their education and connections.
