Originally from the Midwest, Matt drove to Northern California with little more than his car, camping gear, a degree in Biology and an intense interest in wine and its production. He spent the better part of three weeks living out of his car while canvassing the major wine producing regions in Napa and Sonoma Counties in search of the right fit. This search led him to Dutcher Crossing Winery in Dry Creek Valley, which he soon called home. DCW proved to be fertile ground for the aspiring winemaker and he rose to Cellar Master before leaving to further his wine education. Matt is currently a second year Masters student in the Viticulture and Enology Department at the University of California- Davis. He looks forward to sharing his passion for wine and good living throughout the rest of his career.
