Spencer Falor-Ward was a graduate student in Viticulture and Enology. He grew up in the small town of Sonoma California, in a small family with a passion for food, wine and politics. He graduated from Humboldt State University with a degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology. After completing a yearlong internship in a lab studying skin cancer stem cells at UCSF he packed his bags and moved to South Korea to teach English. Three years later, ready to return home, he followed the advice of his wife and parents and applied to the UC Davis Viticulture and Enology masters program. Although he knew plenty about drinking wine, making it was a whole new adventure! Inspired by his professors and classmates he chose to take an active role in DEVO in order to help foster a stronger community among his peers. He believes the relationships that are created during a student’s time in the Viticulture and Enology department are their greatest assets as wine professionals. With the collaboration and support of his fellow enthusiastic and dedicated officers Spencer plans on bolstering membership, participation, and camaraderie as DEVO’s president.
